Friday 4th December – 4-9pm with Tipis until midnight.
Saturday 5th December 10am-8pm, with Tipis until midnight.

Do I need a Golden Pass to go in the Grotto with my child?
Yes, anyone who wishes to enter the Grotto – children and accompanying adults - will need a Golden Pass with the associated Grotto Add-On. The Golden Pass also includes unlimited access to the attracts, too. If your child is under 10, you’ll need to accompany them on most of the attractions anyway, so you’ll need your Pass for that, too.
Do adults need a Golden Pass?
The Christmas markets and general event are free to wander around, so you don’t need a Pass just to enjoy the festive atmosphere or a warm drink in the Giant Tipis. But if your child has a Golden Pass and is under 10, they must be accompanied by an adult on most of the attractions which means you’ll also need a Golden Pass to go on with them. If your child is 10 or over and happy to go on rides independently, you don’t need a Golden Pass yourself, you can simply enjoy the vibe. No kids? Get yourself a Golden Pass, the fun is for EVERYONE!
Do I need a Pass to enter the Tipis?
No, they’re free to enjoy except for when our Christmas Headline Shows take place inside: Saturday 8pm & Sunday 4pm . You’ll need a Tipi Extravaganza ticket for these. They’re worth it!
Is Christmas Town still free to attend?
Yes! Christmas Town is free to attend, and you can enjoy the Christmas Market, street food traders, outdoor bars, wandering performances, and other surprises without a ticket. The whole town will be alive with festive sights, sounds and smells for everyone to enjoy. Passes are only needed if you’d like to take part in the attractions.
Are the Tipi shows included in the Golden Pass too?
No, the Tipi evening shows require their own ticket for entry. Please note that entry to the evening shows in the Tipis has an age restriction of 18+.
Can I buy Passes on the day?
Yes, but they’re more expensive! We recommend pre-booking your Passes to avoid disappointment, as availability on the day cannot be guaranteed. Numbers are limited to keep queues short and make sure everyone enjoys the best possible experience at Christmas Town. Book your Pass in advance online to save.
Does my personal assistant need to pay for a Pass?
No, up to 1 personal assistant can accompany you free of charge. Any additional PAs will need to pay for a Pass. You will need to provide proof of disability to obtain a PA Pass. Please book your Pass online, then get in touch with us at info@bishopaucklandschristmastown.co.uk to obtain a PA Pass.

Can I use my Pass on all 4 days?
No, your Pass will only grant you access to Christmas Town attractions on the day you choose when booking. You will need to purchase an additional Pass for each day you wish to enjoy the full Christmas Town experience.
Which Bishop Auckland postcodes are included in the Bishop Pass?
The Bishop Pass is only available for Thursday. Our Principal Partner, Bishop Auckland Town Council, has made this special offer available to residents within the Town Council’s parish boundary.
You can check if your address falls within the boundary by checking your postcode here.
On collection, you’ll need photo ID plus proof of address. We accept a council tax bill or a utility bill in your name, dated within the last 3 months. If suitable proof is not provided, the booking will be changed to the Golden Pass at Box Office rates.
Why Passes?
We moved to a simple Pass model in 2025, similar to a theme park day Pass, so you get more for less. Everyone in your group, adults and children, will need a Pass to access the attractions. Pay once, stay all day, and make the most of Christmas Town.
A collaborative event proudly supported by Bishop Auckland Town Council and delivered by Baccanalia and Bridge Creative.
